Many of those recalls were for products I never heard of. Some from high end items, the average consumer doesn't use. The shortages of fresh produce has many reasons, floods, tornadoes, heat, fires, and lack of rain, plus the usual congressional Farm Act pay not to plant. Which would not have been an issue if not for the shutting down of our OIL Supply. Bottlenecking imports. Krogers has food in warehouses, their carrots are supposed to be fresh, but they've been frozen, thawed as needed. Portion sizes cut. The news said Tomatoes and potatoes were ruined because of lack of rain and high heat. The ones in the store smell like Hot House tomatoes. I Can, and buy local tomato farms produce, no shortages, great smell and taste. Peaches were brick hard. Green beans have been awful due to being kept too cold. This has been a long habit stores have. Poor quality unshucked corn, and potatoes, mold in clam shell fruits is now quite common. Highest recalls were cut fruits, meats, cheese, even pet food. Cost was driven be fuel cost, and rationing. The one area not highly affected JUNK FOOD, BOOZE. Hershey is driving the no Halloween sales. At the cost they will not see takers. People will look for cheaper or not turn on lights. Feeding your family comes first.
BREAD, MILK, EGGS, CEREAL, BACON, SAUSAGE, HAM, BUTTER, COFFEE went through the roof.
The Medical recalls were at the same level prior to Trump leaving the WH.
BTW when I was growing up grocery stores only had fresh produce in season. We saw Nuts, oranges, citrus only at Thanksgiving or Christmas. Rest was Hot House Grown. Grandma still grew gardens and canned, as did mom. I turn 74 tomorrow, so you remember a lot. I even remember when it was Fashionable to Be PROUD TO SAY MADE IN THE USA! Avoid the self checkouts, that STEALS an American job, and You who pay taxes then have to support, because there are NO JOBS, Robots have them.
