DO NOT LIVE ON CREDIT CARDS, IN PERPETUAL DEBT. If you don't have a year's worth of necessary food stocked, or more, other necessary items, you are screwed. Watch the expiration dates, and rotate food items. Learn gardening and canning, which should have been done a year ago. Script meds are too tightly controlled to stock well. OTC is possible. Grow it if you can. If you don't know how to cook, basic Amish cookbooks are a must. Short on space, quail and rabbits take the place of chickens. Have some barter goods, Be prepared to defend what is yours.

Buy long-lasting basics food, junk food is NOT BASIC FOOD, and don't forget hygiene products, and food for your pets. Know basic camping survival skills. Don't advertise what you do have, stagger expiration dates. Have contingency lighting, chances are there will be no electricity or gas. No grid means cars after 1969 won't run.
